Choosing glass is one of the most important steps in developing a Tiffany-style lamp. Color, pattern and surface texture all influence how the finished shade looks. Our stained glass color library brings together 2,814 material references from our factory catalog, with original photographs, glass codes and category filters to help you prepare a clearer sample request.
Explore the glass color libraryBrowse 10 glass material families
Start with the material category, then narrow your selection by color series. The library includes Transparent Glass (256 references), Transparent Textured Glass (88), Opalescent Glass (1,562), Stipple Glass (80) and Mottled Glass (174). You can also explore Iridescent Glass (123), Textured Glass (508), Bubble Glass (3), Goldstone Glass (13) and Fracture Glass (7). These are catalog reference counts, rather than current stock quantities.
The category names and material codes follow our English catalog. Keeping these references together makes it easier to compare options and discuss the same material with our team. Some entries have two photographs; open the swatch to view both. The library preserves all 2,823 source photographs, including these additional views.
Find a color and save the exact reference
Use the color-series filter to narrow the collection, or search for a glass code, reference ID or color term. Each card shows the catalog glass code and its JY reference ID. Open a card to see the photograph and copy the full reference. Include both identifiers in your enquiry, especially when several materials have similar colors or related codes.
For a new lamp design, shortlist a main shade color, border colors and any accent pieces. Send your preferred references together with a drawing or reference image. This gives our team a more useful starting point than a color name alone. If an entry does not have a usable glass code, quote its JY reference ID and attach the swatch image.
Compare the glass under the intended lighting
A screen photograph is a starting point for material selection. The appearance of stained glass changes with transmitted light, surrounding light and the area of glass used in the design. Before confirming a custom sample, review the selected material with the lamp switched off and illuminated. Where possible, use the intended light source when assessing the effect.
Ask for a physical glass sample or a finished lamp sample when color matching is important. Discuss the acceptable variation in tone, streaking and texture before production. Catalog photographs do not establish exact color matching, current availability, sheet dimensions, thickness or the electrical specification of a finished lamp; our team will confirm the requirements for your project.
Turn your shortlist into a sample brief
When contacting Tiffany lamp manufacturers about a custom design, send the selected glass codes and JY IDs, the lamp reference or drawing, target dimensions, the position of each color and your intended order quantity. Explain which visual details must be retained and which can be adjusted after reviewing the sample. This helps connect the material shortlist with the finished product you want to develop.
