A useful sample review produces decisions that another person can understand later. When working with Tiffany lamp manufacturers, organize the review around the agreed brief rather than a general impression that the lamp looks good or needs improvement.
The aim is to make the accepted details and requested changes clear. This guide describes a buyer's record of a sample review; it does not replace electrical testing or establish that a product meets a particular market requirement.
Identify what was reviewed
Record the item number, sample date and version of the specification. Note whether the sample represents the intended final configuration or was supplied to demonstrate only selected features, such as glass colors or proportions.
Photograph the entire lamp and its identifying information before documenting individual details. If several samples are being compared, label the photographs so that a finish comment cannot be assigned to the wrong model.
Compare dimensions with the brief
Check the measurements that were agreed for review, such as shade diameter, overall height and base size. Record the measured result beside the requested dimension, using the same units. Ask the factory to clarify the measuring method if there is ambiguity.
Avoid inventing a tolerance after the sample arrives. If variation matters for a shelf, display or installation, discuss the acceptable range as part of the specification and record the resulting agreement.
Make appearance comments precise
Photograph the shade from several angles, including the area related to each comment. Describe the location and the issue in plain language. A request such as “review the finish at the rear edge of the base” is more actionable than “improve quality.”
Use comparable lighting when reviewing glass colors. Keep photographs of the same sample with the light on and off, and identify the light source used. Photos are useful references, but exposure and screen settings mean they should not be treated as a precise color standard on their own.
Separate visual observations from technical verification
You can record visible components, supplied labels and the control arrangement. That does not establish electrical compliance or compatibility. Ask for the relevant specification and supporting documentation for the actual configuration and target market.
If dimming was requested, keep the reviewed lamp, light source and control references together. A photograph of an illuminated lamp does not demonstrate that a dimming requirement has been met.
Close each change request
Give each requested change a reference and record the factory's response. State whether a revised photograph, updated document or another physical sample is needed. Keep unresolved items visible instead of treating silence as approval.
Before proceeding, identify the accepted sample and specification revision. For an ArtGlassLamp enquiry, send this record with your item number and planned quantity so the next discussion can focus on the remaining decisions.
